Senior Citizens
We boast no less than TWO groups for the older Parishioners: St Francis',
meeting at 1:30pm on a Tuesday at St Francis Hall and St Luke's meeting at
1:30pm on a Wednesday at the Greyfriars Centre.
Social Committee
To give it it's full title 'The Halls and Social Committee' convenes
under it's Chairman, Denis Carr, once a month (usually on 1st Monday of each month).
It is chiefly concerned with the running of the St Francis Hall and the hall and rooms
at the Greyfriars Centre. Being the biggest commitee in the Parish (over 20 members),
it used also as a sounding board for a wider range of parish activities and initiatives.
Hall-keepers: St Francis: Tommy Petrie 429 0304. Greyfriars: Terry Sharkey 429 6725.
The Bulletin
This is the biggest means of communication in the parish. With very few exceptions,
it is printed weekly ('in house') in two colours. It gives all the events happening
during the coming week, both in the Parish and further afield. It contains the weekly
list of those who have died to be prayed for and the record of the sick of the Parish for
the prayers of the faithful. It also records those whose anniversaries are occuring so that
the usual suffrages may be made. There are also notes on the readings of the Sunday
with an introduction and the service times are listed.
The Minibus
The 15-seat minibus is used extensively for bringing the elderly and infirm to Mass,
for ferrying football teams, for the occasional outing and for the rest of the
Parishioners when required.
