Prayer and Devotion2

Music Ministry

The mainstay is the Group who play faithfully at the 12 noon Mass every Sunday. They also play their part in the liturgy of the 'High Seasons' of Easter and Christmas. Apart from that Frank Maguire conscientiously chooses the hymns for 10am Mass and leads the singing. The present lack of an Organist is apparent and we are grateful to Moira McLoughlin whoplays for the Novena, big feasts and at special times, including funerals.

Passkeepers

Each Mass has a Head passkeeper with a small group to assist in the work of welcoming everyone to Mass especially visitors or new Parishioners. They assist in finding seats, taking up collections, assisting movement at Communion time, distributing the Parish Bulletins, finding a cup of water: if you need anything at Mass they are there to help. We would welcome new Passkeepers at the Mass they usually attend, or at any Mass: Qualifications: a willingness to help - and a sense of humour! Training and prayer days are arranged from time to time.

Readers (or Lectors)

Proclaim the word of God on both Sundays and Weekdays. They also announce the Intentions to be prayed for in the Bidding Prayers (Prayer of the faithful). This is on a rota basis. More readers are always needed - especially from among our younger parishioners. Detailed training in public speaking is available as well as instruction in the role and ministry of Lector and days are organised for Readers to reflect on their Ministry.

Flowers

Fresh flowers adorn the sanctuary all the time except for Advent and Lent. This work is carried out by Cathie McDougal. On high days and holidays she has a small but good team to help her. The decoration of the Altar and sanctuary, which we take so much for granted, involves a lot of time and dedication, especially at Christmas, Easter, Novena, Eucharistic Adoration and 'Forty Hours' Devotions.
